My Favorite Things – Summer Vacation

My Favorite Things - Summer Vacation

Okay People … here is the deal I don’t like to be negative, I feel like there is always a way to find something positive about what is happening in life.

But when it comes to summer… I have to tell you … I HATE every single moment of summer time!

I know what you are thinking… “Come on … that is a bit dramatic … really every single moment of summer. You can’t find one single thing that is nice about summer.”

Nope, I sure can’t. I really dislike the heat, the longer days, the bugs, and most of all the lack of routine that happens over summer.

My angry for summer may be fueled this week by the heatwave we are in the middle of!

Most all it is the heat that really puts me on edge. I get physically ill from it, and it is simply not fun battling the migraines!

I’ve always loved the I Love Lucy show, I can remember as a kid watching it at around 1 pm when it came on. It was always a treat watch in the summer time because I would normally be in school at 1pm on weekday.

This Meme made me laugh….. I’m for sure going to be feeling this way over the next few days as the heat rolls in, and we start in on some work in my office.

Even if I do hate every single moment of summer I am so thankful that the heat has not been that bad until the this week. We have had such a cool, and calm introduction in summer this year.

It is making it easier to get through.

Today my Mom, and Grandpa will be making the trip down to spend a few weeks with us. We will be be putting tombstone on my Grandma grave, along with some stones my Grandpa brought down from their home.

It will be emotional, I miss my Granda so much more than I could ever express.

I am looking forward to seeing family, and I am hoping it will make these long summer days go by a little bit faster.

I thought I would share with you a few of our summer activities. We don’t tend to do a lot durning summer simple because I struggle so much with the heat. But there are a few favorites we love.

This last week we had Vacation Bible School and it was the first year that Andrew was able to go.

Summer games at the kitchen table! Kayla is so great about helping Andrew as he is learning how to play these big kid games.

There is no filter on this next photo… the sky simple lite up in these beautiful colors, and even though I was getting eaten alive by all the summer bugs while taking this photo … I must say it was worth it.

I would love to know which season you enjoy most. Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter?

If you are struggling through these hot summer days, and disliking it as much me let me know what you are doing to get through it.

Fall lady here. Your post made me laugh out loud in it’s honesty. I appreciate that. I usually say I like summer until a fly zooms by my ear, a mosquito bites me, I walk into a hoard of fruit flies & I innocently walk outside & the heat takes my breath. Hello fall! So, thank you, you summed it up! 😁

I prefer spring and summer. Winter is my least favorite season but winter in Michigan can be very cold. I dislike extreme cold weather and I dislike short days. I love that last picture. I took a photo this past Thursday that looks almost the same. It was a beautiful sunset.

I am always cold, so I LOVE summer. Coming from WI, we can have bitter cold winters. I love the summer months, the hotter the better. I have 9 months of feeling cold, I want my 3 months of hot. We have air conditioning and warly use it. i love having the windows open and waking up to the birds singing, the smell of freshly cut grass and flowers blooming and hearing the sound of lawn mowers and motorcycles. We also love to go camping. Hope you don’t have too many Migraines so you can enjoy your time with your kiddos home for the summer.

I’m from PA & I don’t really like the winter. Look at the bright side….your beautiful picture of the Summer sky is one positive thing. (even though you said you were eaten alive by bugs….that’s one thing I don’t like either.) 🙂
