2017 Project Life Set Up

I simply love the start of a New Year, and the start of a new Project Life Album. There is just something  exciting about being at the beginning of a new album.

As I look back over my 2016 Project Life Albums I finally feel like I have found a good system, and work flow.

There are several things that will remain the same as I head into documenting 2017. There are some minor things I plan on tweaking, and few bigger picture goals I have.

{2017 Project Life Set}

This is how my title paged turned out. You can check out my title page complete with photos on my Instagram account HERE.

2017 Project Life Set Up

I’ve now been using Project Life to document our everyday moments since 2011. Each year that goes by I end up loving this system more than the year before.

I thought I would share with you what my plan for this next year, what I’m using, and how I’m using it.

{My Plan For This Year}

I have 5 Project Life Style albums that I do each year. Our family album, 1 album for each of my 3 kids, and my One Little Word mini album. With each album I find if I am able to “set it up” ahead of time it helps me remain successful, and engaged with the album all year long.

For Our Family Album, and each of the kids album I set up the album using either a core kit, designer paper, or a kit from Stampin’ Up for each month.

{Supplies I’m Using}

Over the years I have found that it is easier for me work with product that coordinates. I tend to want things to match.

Printable:

There are a few items that I have created myself to use, and a few items that I found online for free that I printed out to use this year. I print all of my printable on Whisper White Card Stock from Stampin’ Up.

  • Monthly Calendar Circles – I found these online for free HERE.
    I printed them out on Whisper White Card Stock, and used my Circle Framelits to cut them out. I use a stitched framelit set to layer colored cardstock behind them.
  • Weekly Number Circles – I created these myself, and you print them out HERE.
  • Monthly 8 1/2 x 11 Calendars – I found these online for free HERE.

Stampin’ UP!:

Most of the tools that I am using on my Project Life Albums are from Stampin’ Up. This is simply because the punches, die cuts, and other tools I have are from Stampin’ Up.

I find that my Stampin’ Up Ink Colors, and Cardstock are easy to match up with others products that I am using.

Becky Higgins:

I’m excited to share that I am now an affiliate partner with Becky Higgins. You can purchase any products you need from Becky Higgins HERE through my affiliate link. This means when you shop use this link I get a small commission . This does not change the price of the product for you. It is simply a small way you can support what I’m doing here on my website.

I will be using several core kits throughout the year. Many of these core kits are ones that have been my favorite for years.

  • Everyday Core Kit – I will be using this mainly in my One Little Word project. However, I love this kit so much I’m sure it will make an appearance in other projects through the year.
  • Midnight Core Kit – This is still one of my favorite kits. Yellow, Black & Grey make this core kit simple, and easy to use.
  • Currently Core Kit – This is a great kit, one of my favorites. This kit goes with so many other kits.
  • Cottage Living – This is a core kit I do not currently have, but I am thinking about adding it to my collection.
  • Jade {Retired}
  • Clementine {Retired}

I’m also using the Project Life App. I use this app mostly for the collage feature. It makes it super easy to put anywhere from 2 – 4 photos together. I am also able to create larger prints 6×8, 8×8 or 12×12.

Ali Edwards:

I currently am subscribed to Ali Edwards Story Kit. I get both the Story Kit & the Stamp Kit, which means I get the Digital kit for free.

There are a few other products I use from Ali Edwards, these are mostly products for One Little Word.

  • Story Kit – I will be using the stamps, and embellishemnts from these monthly kits.
  • One Little Word Product – I will be using a few of the items that I purchased for my One Little Word product in my other albums this year.

Amazon:

These are a few other items I use that I have found online.

  • Avery Tabs – These are one of my favorite things to use in my album. I use these a few times a month.
  • Avery Metal Rim Tags – I use these for embellishments. I use a 1 inch circle punch to create the layer on top of the tag.
  • Corner Chomper – I use this to round the corners of my pictures, cardstock, and designer paper.
  • Crop-A-Dile Hole Punch – I use this when I’m adding items to my album that are not going to be in page plastics.
  • Snappy Tray – I love this for embossing.
  • Clear Dividers – These are a Becky Higgins brand. They are just not sold on her website anymore.

{Photos}

This is the biggest struggle I have had, from organizing them, to printing them. It has gotten easier to organize my photos since I have had my MacBook Pro.

I will be sharing the systems I have found later this year.

As for printing I still am uploading through Snapfish. I’ve been uploading to www.snapfish.com for over 10 years, and this works as another way to back up my photos.

Instead of waiting 2 to 3 weeks for my photos to get be delivered, I have use the option to pick up locally. As of right now I am printing through Walmart.

{Looking Forward To this Year….}

I’m so excited to to be using Project Life to document our everyday moments! If you have any of the questions about the items that I am using, or my process please feel free to email!

I will be sharing an overview of my Project Life album month by month. Look for January’s overview the first few weeks of February.

January 2017 My Paper Pumpkin

I was excited to see My Paper Pumpkin Kit in my mail box so early this month. I had already seen the video that Stampin UP! shared early this week so I knew what the project was going to be.

Surprises are never something I’ve liked. I always end up wanting to know what my kit contains before it ends up getting here!

This month I knew that the little treat bags were not something I wanted to make. Most of the time I enjoy the little treat bags that come in the kits every few months. However, I just wanted to use the stamp set this month.

{January 2017 My Paper Pumpkin}

After all the Real Red and Blushing Bride Valentine’s Cards from last week I decided I wanted to do something a little less traditional! I also enjoyed trying out the new Peekaboo Peach Ombre ink pad.

Celebrate Everyday Project Life Kits

I always enjoy the Project Life by Stampin’ Up Card Kits. I find having Project Life Cards that match all of my Card Stock, and Inks makes pulling these kinds of mini projects together super easy.

The Celebrate Everyday Card Kit is the perfect kit for fun everyday photos.

I will be teaching a class at an upcoming Crafting Retreat, and this little mini book is going to be simple, and fun. I’m looking forward to sharing some easy tips, and tricks with those taking this class.

{Celebrate Everyday Project Life Kits}

Since there are only 4 pages that we are putting together in the class it doesn’t make much sense to have an entire album. Instead, we will be creating this cute cover page for the mini book.

If those taking the class decide they want to add more pages to this mini book they will be able to add these pages to a 6×8 album. Our Emerald Envy Album will be perfect!

I enjoy taking the cards from the card kit and using my Framelits to create a different look with them. I used the Stitched Framelits to create the circles, and layer it on to the 4×6 card.

I’m looking forward to using one of the designs of our newest page protectors in a fun new way. We will be slicing a part of the page off, and adding a tab.

You can pick up any of the supplies I used to put these cards together HERE in my online store, or by clicking on any of the photos below.
Please use HOST CODE: NGW663JQ to receive your FREE Card kits for this month.

Below you will find all the information for the up coming retreat. If you are in this area, and would love to come I would love to see you there.

Come and craft the day away. Bring your own projects to work on, paper crafting, knitting, quilting. Whatever you’d like. Come for part of the day if you can’t stay all day. (fees are same for partial day)

4 Sweet Sent With Love Cards

Today I wanted to share with you another project using the Sealed with Love Stamp set, which I used in Monday’s Cards HERE! I also used the Sending Love Designer paper.

I created 4 different style cards using a few simple layers.

You can see how great this Designer Paper works with the Pool Party Cardstock, and how using just a simple sentiment can work on cards.

{4 Sweet Sent With Love Cards}

I originally wanted to use Basic Black as an accent color, but for some reason it simply wasn’t working for me. I instead used Pool Party, and really liked the way it came out.

November 2016 Project Life Pages

I meant to share this video, and these pages with you many, many weeks ago. I simply never was able to get around to it!

In the video below you will hear me talk about my Grandmother, and how she is ill. We were hoping she would recover. However, she passed away at the end of November.

I used the Project Life by Stampin’ Up All Year Long Card kit for all of November. This kit is perfect for this time of the year.

{November 2016 Project Life Pages}

This video was hard for me to go back, and edit. It was also hard to do the journaling for these pages since it was all of November that my Grandma had been sick.

November 2016 Project Life Pages

November 2016 Project Life Pages

One of the things that I truly believe in is documenting the world around you. I’ve always thought it would be amazing to know what was going on in my Grandparents lives during the election of J.F Kennedy.

When my kids look back at these family albums I want them see to not only the things that were happening in our everyday lives, but also the things that were happening around us.

One Little Word Mini Album

It is that time of the year when everyone starts sharing “New Year Resolutions.” I enjoy reading what people are committed to, sometimes I’m inspired by what by what others are doing.

I traded in my “New Year’s Resolutions” a few years go for something I felt was much simpler.

One Little Word has become my favorite thing about starting a new year, and I look forward to connecting with my the word I choose all year long.

{One Little Word Mini Album}

I have found that it works best for me if I have some kind of Project Life Kit to work with when I’m putting together my One Little Word Album.

Last year I used the Hello Lovely Project Life Kit by Stampin’  Up! You can still get this card kit HERE. I purchased several of these card kits, and accessory kits to make sure that I had enough supplies.

One Little Word Mini Album

The 6×8 album is the perfect size for this project. I used the Basic Black Re-inker to re-color the spine of the album from brown to black.

One Little Word Mini Album

My word for last year was “Thrive.” It was the perfect word for me last year. The Hello Lovely Card kit worked perfectly with everything that I did within my album.

Here are a few photos from my album. This album has both a mix of photos, and prompts that you respond to through writing.

One Little Word Mini Album

This year my word is “Believe,” and I am using the Everyday Core Kit from Becky Higgins. You can purchase that core HERE.

Here are few of the photos of how my album is starting out. You can follow me on Instagram HERE if you want to see more of my album coming together over this next month.

Paper Pumpkin 4×4 Year In Review Mini Album

I am beyond excited this month because I realize that my Story Kit from Ali Edwards, and My Paper Pumpkin’ from Stampin’ Up go together like Peanut Butter, and Jelly.

I knew right away that I wanted to do a 4×4 mini album.

At first I didn’t think I would need that many photos. As I started putting these pages together I found I was getting the chance to use many of the photos that didn’t fit into my Project Life album.

{Paper Pumpkin 4×4 Year In Review Mini Album}

For many years I have avoided mini albums. It’s not because I didn’t like them, simply because I know once I started in with these super cute albums I would have a hard time not making a mini album for everything in our life.

Paper Pumpkin 4x4 Year In Review Mini Album

I kept each month simple by using the silver foil number stickers, and stamping using the Date It Stamp from Stampin’ Up. This is a great stamp set to have on hand to use in your Project Life Albums.

One of the things that I’m really enjoying lately are these super cute overlays. I added a few to my December pages for my Project Life Album, and the ones that were included in this months Paper Pumpkin kit were amazing.

In September my Grandparents came down for a weekend trip. I didn’t know it then, but this would be the last time I would see my Grandma. These pictures were from that trip, and I enjoyed using them in this mini album.
